Last Wednesday, March 21, 2012, the BravoTV show “Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis” featured a renovation of the home of MMRGlobal, Inc. (OTCBB:MMRF) Chief Executive Officer Robert Lorsch. At OTC Showcase, we have followed and written on MMRGlobal and its chief for a number of years pertaining to corporate developments as well as the backdrop of stories surrounding Lorsch, including his philanthropic efforts with the Wildlife WayStation in California (and subsequent battle with the United States Department of Agriculture) and ongoing litigation with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong for her involvements in the then privately-held MyMedicalRecords.com.
The airing of the television show on Wednesday prompted a phone call to Lorsch later in the week in which we discussed several topics about why he chose to do the show and what impact he believes it may have on awareness for MMRGlobal. Aside from the stock market component, it is hard to overlook the fact that BravoTV - the station that made “Taylor Armstrong” a household name before Lorsch’s lawsuit against Taylor and her now-deceased husband hit the mainstream public exposing their less-than-scrupulous business activities - aired a show on Lorsch that showcased the softer side of the businessman and gave a bit of insight as to all the charities he has been involved with over the last four decades.
We asked Bob what inspired the feature on the show. He explained that Bravo brought his wife (and MyMedicalRecords.com spokesperson), Kira Lorsch, in to meet on another project and then came back and offered to meet the Lorsch’s for the episode on “Interior Therapy”. Kira and Bob liked the idea because of a charity component that could help to encourage people to give things to charity, something that they both clearly believe strongly in.
According to both the Lorsch’s, the response to the show has been overwhelming. “We have received more than a thousand letters, proposals and emails from people already. It’s very gratifying from my position as CEO of MMRF because many of those people have commented that they were not aware of MMRGlobal and MyMedicalRecords.com before. One of the first people that recognized me on the street after the show aired was a woman who has spent the last 30 years as a private wealth manager with Merrill Lynch. She told me about the impact the show had on her and that she was looking further into MMRF.”
Bob’s passion for endeavors that he enters into is pretty obvious and one thing that sets him apart from many other senior executives in the OTC stock world. While his totally-committed attitude always rings true for either a charity or a business, Lorsch made it very clear that there is major distinction between the two. “I always go ‘all-in’. I’ve never wanted to be average – in fact, being average scares the hell out of me - and use that as a driving force in everything that I do. But, make no mistake about it, MMRGlobal is not a charity. It’s a business and I intend to make this the most successful business story of my life. I feel strongly that people should always give back and that’s why I am so involved with charities, but at the heart of things, I am a capitalist. I have a deep commitment to the shareholders of MMRF and all of those that believe in me to see this company through to profitability. That’s what I intend to do.”
We couldn’t leave the conversation without asking about the status of the lawsuit against Armstrong. “All I can say publicly is that the attorneys on the two sides are talking and I would hope to provide an update in the near term. We’ll have to leave it at that for now,” said Lorsch.
BravoTV will be re-running the episode of “Interior Therapy with Jeff Lewis” titled “Charity Starts at Home,” on several occasions. It is also available for download on iTunes and Amazon. Hulu does not have rights to the show at this time.
